Our Educational Programs
The early years are a vital foundation stage in every child’s learning journey. At the Greek Community Childcare Centre we believe children learn best through fun and interesting activities, tailored to their interest, within a loving and caring environment.
We believe it takes a community to raise a child, and so we use storypark to share your child’s daily learning with you in real time.
Parents can receive updates on their child’s day and can comment and respond to content. You control who can see your child’s profile, and you can even upload and share your child’s experiences from home, fostering your child’s sense of belonging to our community.

Fun New Greek Language Learning Program An adventure in Learning Greek
YIASSOU!!!
Paizo kai Mathaino (Play & Learn) is a fun new Greek language learning program for Kindy & Pre-Prep Children.
The program’s goal is to introduce young children to Greek Language and Culture through play music and so much more. You don’t have to be Greek.
Children will be introduced to everyday vocabulary through games, arts, crafts, cooking, music and songs. The fun and interactive 30-minute classes are held weekly and will culminate with a presentation of the Children’s work at the end of the year at the annual childcare concert.
The program has been initiated and created by Christina Xydi Lignos. A graduate of the music University of Athens she has a wealth of experience in teaching the Greek language and music.
Christina has been teaching Greek at the Greek Orthodox School in West End for the last five years since moving to Australia from Greece. She is the conductor of the Greek community choir Ellinikes Fones, the senior choir of GOC and children’s choir of the school.
The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
The National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) provides the program’s framework. The EYLF was developed to ensure that children receive quality education programs in their early childhood setting and experience play based learing that is engaging and builds success for life.
Throughout our programming and planning we promote the following:
- Children have a strong sense of identity.
- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
- Children are effective communicators.
- Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
- Children are confident and involved learners.

Nursery
Teachers: Theas Chrissy, Anastasia, Katia, and Eleni
Your infant will be in a safe and comfortable environment designed to stimulate and amuse him or her at all levels of development. The infant program is flexible and accommodating to each child’s schedule and needs, with activities based on the children’s interests. During circle time, we sing songs and read age appropriate books with each other. When weather permits, we’ll go for walks around the block in triple strollers or play outside in our large play yard.
The large, bright playroom includes colorful mats, a story area, and an assortment of age appropriate toys. We provide high chairs and cribs for the younger children and tables and cots for the older children.
Staff in the Infant Area don’t just care for your child’s needs. They stimulate your child’s curiosity and eagerness to learn through:
- Songs
- Music
- Stories
- Sensory Activities
- Rhymes
- Building and Sorting
- Finger Plays
- Outside Play
